Everyone agrees that Apple's magnetic and multifunctional SmartCover for the iPad 2 is genius. It protects the screen, acts a stand to angle and position the iPad 2 in a variety of ways. The only real problem with it is it can't protect the rear of the iPad when it is on the front. Aviiq's SmartCover compatible SmartCase is one of the best solutions we've seen to this dilemma.

There are a number of iPad 2 accessories that work in tandem with the SmartCover to enable full protection for the iPad 2. What sets Aviiq's SmartCase apart is that they use high quality Anodized Aluminum and hard plastic to create a relatively lightweight solution.

The SmartCase ($49.99) weighs 4.9 oz and easily snaps on to the iPad's rear through the slim grooves near the screen. Once securely fastened, the SmartCase can be added without a problem and even be flipped back if needed.

Access to all the iPad 2's ports, buttons and rear camera are available through cutouts in the SmartCase so this is a product that doesn't at all interfere with the functionality.

Aviiq also offers a variety of colours to match the more popular SmartCover so really trendy colour-coordinated users can mix and match as they please.

The SmartCase adds minimal weight and a bit of bulk to the iPad but we feel this is worth it. Far better than having to get a whole new case that covers the front and the back of the iPad 2. We also like the Aluminum finish of the SmartCase which has a more premium look and feel than many plastic cases.
