The above image is from the invitation that Apple sent some members of the press earlier today which confirms the long-rumoured September 12 iPhone launch event. The number 5 which shows up as a shadow seems to point that they will indeed call it the iPhone 5. The launch will be held in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts on next Wednesday. Note that the 2012 iPhone is really the 6th generation of the device since it launched in 2007. Counting the iPhone, the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S.
