The Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) syndrome seems to be growing among social network users as seen in the results of a recent survey conducted by MyLife.com. Out of the 2,084 adults (ages 18 and above) surveyed, 56% of them fear they miss out on important status updates, events, and news when they aren't on their choice social networking sites. In connection with this, 51% of the respondents say they have visited their social networks more often than they did two years ago with 27% of them logging in first thing in the morning.

Some would even go to the extent of giving up an addiction to stay connected—approximately 26% would trade habits like smoking and watching reality TV for access to social networking sites. However, 52% of the respondents want to take a break from one or more of these sites but only 24% said they will push through with this. The reason? FOMO, obviously.
