Microsoft has update its Skype messenger to take more advantage of the new interactive notifications feature on iOS 8. It is now possible to respond to text messages as well as video and voice calls from the notifications settings.

You can swipe left to answer or decline inbound voice calls right from the lock screen. If you want to accept it, there would also be an option to answer the calls with video or with voice only. If the phone is unlocked, you can pull down the banner notification to answer the call or respond to missed calls by calling back or texting a reply. You just need to swipe the notification.

For text messages, swiping left will also let you reply to them right from the lock screen. However, you would still need to unlock the phone to reply in-line to messages. Unlocked, you just need to pull down the banner notification.
