Apple has announced that Canadian business owners will be able to add their business location and information to Apple Maps via an Apple Maps Connect service. Ideal for entrepreneurs and small businesses who want to make their location, store hours and other information easy to find on Apple Maps.

Maps Connect for Small Businesses can be used to add or edit the business information that is displayed on Apple Maps.  I tried to add a business on the service at https://mapsconnect.apple.com/ where I was asked to enter my iCloud username and password. After filling in information on location, category, contact information and store hours, there was a two step verification process that involved a phone call and a code to ensure I was the proprietor of the business and then it was easy enough to locate my business on the map.

Apple Maps is preloaded on all iOS devices and is also now available on Mac OS X Yosemite on Mac computers. The Maps Connect page has options for adding indoor maps as well, although this seems to be more appropriate for larger businesses like shopping malls.
