Motorola releases Stagefright exploit fix release schedule and devices covered

The Stagefright exploit is the latest security threat to affect Android devices. Enabled by a video sent via MMS (text message) can attack the system through thelibStageFright mechanism which is necessary for Android to process video files. Many text messaging apps — Google's Hangouts are said to automatically process video so it is ready once the message is accessed, which can trigger the exploit.

Motorola is one of the first companies tor respond to the Stagefright threat and has released a list of models and corresponding fixes.

“We take the security of our customers extremely seriously. We applaud Google’s efforts to work with the carriers and handset manufacturers to enhance security in the Android ecosystem, and we look forward to working with them to help make this happen.

All of our products announced last week will have the StageFright patch integrated into the software. We’ve also begun working to integrate, test and deploy the patch in many of our recent Lollipop upgrades for current products.  The patch will also be included in the M upgrade.”
