Google plans to unveil its new Canadian engineering headquarters in Waterloo, Ontario later this week. The new Kitchener-Waterloo venue will be the headquarters of Google’s Canadian development team.

A handful of Googlers opened the company’s first office in Kitchener back in 2005. Since then, Google has steadily expanded its investment in the region and absorbed a lot of talent that had come to the hub. The new 185,000 sq feet headquarters unveiled this week will be home to over 350 engineers who work on products used by billions of people around the globe. It is a great vote of confidence on Canada's potential to create talent and technology hubs.

The dramatic transformation of the Breithaupt Block reflects Google’s long-term commitment to Kitchener-Waterloo’s technology ecosystem. The region boasts a dynamic combination of world-leading engineering and science education alongside a robust startup community, anchored by the presence of global tech companies. Within a few kilometers of Google’s new office, there are over 1000 technology companies who call Kitchener-Waterloo home.
