The Raspberry Pi 3 is the latest version of the popular mini-computer which now features integrated Wi-Fi as well as support for 64-Bit operating systems while maintaining the US $35 price. Raspberry Pi has been a popular computer with hobbyists, students learning to code as well as Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Canadians can order their Pi 3's at BuyaPi.ca.
“We’ve [now] shipped over eight million units, including three million units of Raspberry Pi 2, making us the UK’s all-time best-selling computer,” Raspberry Pi founder Eben Upton writes in a post announcing the new release. “The Raspberry Pi Foundation has grown from a handful of volunteers to have over sixty full-time employees, including our new friends from Code Club. We’ve sent a Raspberry Pi to the International Space Station and are training teachers around the world through our Picademy program.”
The processor this time is a 1.2GHz 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A53, compared to the 900 MHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU in the previous Pi 2. It also offers integrated 802.11n wireless LAN and Bluetooth 4.1 for the first time.
