Fujifilm has remained true to its film roots. Not only do the company's cameras offer photo settings that recall different types of film, they've created a somewhat significant niche of instant photography and film with their Instax line of cameras and film printers.

Fujifilm and Toronto-based digital and experiences agency Kastor & Pollux teamed up for a 2-day photo sharing event to showcase what the printers can do and to celebrate the release of the Instax Share SP-2 printer. Following an invite-only media launch event, Fujifilm and Kastor & Pollux opened the doors of 12 Ossington Ave. for a public viewing with a meet-and-greet with special guest Jenn Im (@imjennim) of YouTube channel Clothes Encounters.

Welcoming over 600 guests, 12 Ossington Ave was transformed into a photography haven; featuring 8 exclusive photography sets based around Pat O'Rourke's photos. Each designed with the intention of providing its engagers with a multitude of DIY-inspired photo opportunities, the sets provided the backdrops to over 400 Instagram posts published under #instaxshareto. In total, over 3.8 million social media impressions were generated over 2 days.

Fujifilm launched an updated version of their standalone photo printer which connects to your iPhone or Android device to print out photos. The SP-2 is about 30% faster and the picture quality is better plus it has a rechargeable battery making it more portable. Fujifilm has injected a bit of style into the SP-2, giving it colour accents like gold and blue. Pricing and availability of the Fujifilm Instax SP-2 is still to be determined.
