Amazon's Alexa A.I. can recognize individual users within a household and deliver personalized experiences based on who’s speaking? Today, Alexa’s “Your Voice” feature started rolling out to customers in Canada. Customers can enroll by asking Alexa to learn their voice or by using the Alexa app.
Voice enrollment:
Ask “Alexa, learn my voice.” Users will then follow the verbal instructions to teach Alexa their voice. It’ll take Alexa about 5 minutes to recognize a voice. Just ask “Alexa, who am I?” to confirm. You only need a compatible Alexa-enabled device and registered Alexa account.
Via Alexa app:
To create a voice profile from the Alexa app, customers will go to menu, select Settings, and select Your Voice (under Accounts). Once they begin, customers will use the drop-down menu to select the device they want to interact with to teach Alexa their voice. Customers will then select Next, say the phrase on-screen out loud when prompted, select Next to go to the next phrase. When the process is complete, a confirmation screen shows in the Alexa app, and Alexa will say, “good job.”
Recognition across your Alexa-enabled devices in the household is automatic once enrolled.
To start, Your Voice works across Calling & Messaging, Calendar, Music, Shopping, and Flash Briefing. Support for additional Alexa features will roll out in the future. Similar to other Alexa features, this feature will get smarter over time and as you use it.
