Tecnica is known for being one of the world's top alpine ski boot companies. They started crafting shoes in the 1960s Italy. The company then started specializing in boot fittings. So, it's not a surprise that the concept of customizing the fit of a shoe comes from the history and heritage of the company.

The first to bring customizable technology to trekking boots, Tecnica uses C.A.S. (Custom Adaptive Shape) technology to combine performance, precision and power with exceptional comfort. This innovation for the outdoors, first introduced in the Forge high-cut model recently, was the first shoe of its kind.

Tecnica now introduces their second customizable trekking shoe, the PLASMA which introduces the same technology in a lower-cut shoe. Perfect for spring hiking season and ideal for those who have always wished for the slight tweaks in the fit of good outdoor shoes.

All of the shoe and the footbed are customizable in the two styles. The FORGE and PLASMA are shaped to the foot within 20 minutes at the time of purchase and are created with heat-customizable materials, entirely pre-molded to the Tecnica anatomic patent for the perfect fit.

The two-step process is quite simple. Tecnica's innovation is built right into a system compact enough to be brought into a retailer without taking up too much space. The first stage has the consumer inserting both feet into the "compression socks." The machine heats up comfortably to help shape the footbeds. The footbeds are then inserted back into the shoes. Step two involves the customer putting on the shoes and then returning back into the compression socks for the entire shoe to be customized to give the optimum fit and comfort in the hiking shoe or boot.

The Forge style higher-cut boot is currently available in leather as well as Gor-Tex, vegan, synthetic materials. The Plasma lower-cut style hiking shoe is currently available in the vegan materials and will roll out leather styles in in the fall of 2019. The waterproof shoe also features with the Vibram Grip outsoles for more stability on various terrains.

The customized fitting of the Plasma shoe will roll out this spring at specialty outdoor retailers across Canada. More information can be found at www.tecnicasports.com
