Facebook refreshes Messenger's look with a new update that it's rolling out. It introduces a fresh, vibrant logo and default chat colour to reflect "a shift to the future of messaging - a more dynamic, fun and integrated way to hang out with your favourite people, on your favourite apps and devices."

The launch trailer above shows Messenger features introduced in the past year, including Watch Together and dark mode. It also highlights cross-app chatting with Instagram users, which is coming to most North American users soon. Messenger also powers conversations with Portal and shortly with Oculus, too.

Some other features coming to Messenger include selfie stickers and vanish mode. Vanish mode is similar to how messages on Snapchat generally work, with them disappearing after you leave the chat or after they've been viewed. Third-party AR effects are also coming next year.
