Acer's new "luxury" laptop comes from a partnership with Porsche Design. The Porsche Design Acer Book RS draws on the strengths of the design studio and Acer's laptop expertise.

While it looks like a conventional laptop, it's encased in carbon fibre. It is powered by either an 11th-generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 8GB or 16GB of RAM, and 512GB or 1TB of storage. The graphics options are either Intel's integrated Iris Xe graphics or discrete NVIDIA MX350 GPU. The Acer Book RS sports a 14-inch IPS touchscreen display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), 340 nits max brightness, and 100% sRGB colour.

Its unibody hinge connects the display to the rest of the laptop. It lifts the keyboard a bit when opened, which Acer claims to improve cooling and offer a better ergonomic typing experience.

Acer wrote in its press release that its North American price starts at US$1,399 (around CA$1,840). But Slash Gear reports the Porsche Design Acer Book RS will cost approximately $2,000. It comes with optional matching accessories, including a US$109.99 (CA$145) mouse with carbon fibre accents and a case. Acer offers a US$329.99 (CA$434) bundle that includes the mouse, mousepad, carrying pouch, and notebook sleeve. There's also a "premium package" that consists of the higher-spec'd i7 model for US$1,999.99 (CA$2,631). According to Slash Gear, the laptop will be available by December 2020.
