Huawei's ongoing partnership has produced special edition versions of its handsets through the years. With the launch of the Mate 40 series, of course, we get the new Porsche Design Huawei Mate 40 RS. Aside from that flagship handset, we also get a special edition version of its Watch GT 2 this time.

Let's talk about the phone first. The Porsche Design variant shares many features of the Mate 40, but with a few even more premium specs to justify its price and positioning. Mate 40 RS will set interested buyers by a whopping €2,295 (around CA$3,566).

It sports a high-strength, nano-tech ceramic back, which Huawei claims has a "diamond-like shine and a sapphire-like toughness." Unlike the Apple iPod click wheel-like camera module on the regular Mate 40 phones, it has octagonal camera housing. Since it's made with ceramic, expect the handset to be shiny. It comes in white and black colour options.

The Mate 40 RS comes with a 6.76-inch OLED with a 90Hz refresh rate, the new Kirin 9000 5G processor, 12GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage.

At the back, it gets a 50-megapixel Ultravision primary camera, a 20-megapixel ultrawide Cine Camera, a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and OIS, and an 8-megapixel SuperZoom Camera with 10x optical zoom and OIS as well. There's also a 3D-depth sensing sensor to help with autofocus. In the pill-shaped cutout in front, there's a 13-megapixel sensor and a 3D depth-sensing camera.

Equipped with a 4,400mAh battery, this phone also supports Huawei's 66-watt wired, 50-watt wireless charging, and 5-watt reverse wireless charging. While it doesn't have Google Play Services and apps, the phone runs on EMUI 11 based on Android 10 out of the box.

The new Porsche Design Huawei Watch GT 2 also gets a skin-friendly ceramic back, wear-resistant sapphire glass, and lightweight titanium frame and wrist strap with a butterfly buckle. The strap has sliders to make it easier to put on and take off, so you don't need tools to lengthen the strap. It has a 1.39-inch OLED watch face and 46mm body.

Like other Huawei wearables, it has over 100 workout modes, 10 running courses with voice guidance, a skiing coach, and a golf drive range mode. It also comes equipped with a barometer to let you know about adverse air conditions. It can also keep track of sunrise and sunset and moon phases and tide to help you on your adventures. A Route Back feature calculates when you return to your starting location when you're cross-country running, climbing, or hiking.

This Watch GT 2 can also go for a swim with 5 ATM water-resistance. It can track your heart rate, blood oxygen levels, stress, and sleep. The TruSleep 2.0 feature can diagnose six common types of sleep issues.

Running on proprietary Huawei OS, it can last up to 14 days between charges with regular use or eight days with heavy use. Huawei claims a five-minute charge can have the smartwatch running for 10 hours.

Prepare to drop a pretty penny for this wearable; the Porsche Design Huawei Watch GT 2 costs €700 (CA$1,088).
