As concerns of the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) mount, we see more and more events getting cancelled. The latest casualty is Huawei's P40 launch, which was supposed to take place in Paris, France. In its place, the company will be hosting an online event on March 26, which Huawei did for the launch of the Huawei Mate XS last month following the cancellation of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Huawei is expected to launch three variants of the flagship series: the Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro, and Huawei P40 Pro Premium Edition. Revu reported on some of the rumoured camera specifications that it believes to refer to the Huawei P40 Pro Premium Edition. @RODENT950, the prolific tipster who shared the specs on Twitter, claims it's for the standard Huawei P40 Pro, but with what's been presented, it could well be the most premium of the line.

The Huawei P40 Pro will reportedly get a 52-megapixel Sony IMX700 Hexadeca Bayer capable of taking photos with a resolution of 3.25 megapixels. The larger pixels offered through the 16x pixel binning promise higher-quality pictures and videos in low light.

The handset will also reportedly sport a 40-megapixel Sony IMX650 ultra-wide cine camera, which we've seen as the primary shooter on bot the Huawei Mate 30 and Huawei P30.

It's also expected to get two zoom cameras: one is a periscope lens with 10x optical zoom, and another is a telephoto lens with 3x magnification. Huawei might also throw in Time-of-Flight (ToF) and colour-temperature sensors.

HoweverGSMArena believes the Huawei P40 Premium Edition will feature a penta-camera setup with an ultrawide angle camera, periscope telephoto lens, a big sensor for the primary camera, ToF sensor, as well as a macro camera.

All Huawei P40 phones are expected to run on the Kirin 990 processor, with some supporting 5G in some markets.
