Apple today launched updated MacBook Airs now featuring the updated scissor-type keyboard that it re-introduced with the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Also launched today were new Mac mini desktops that now feature double the the storage space.

“From students and consumers buying their first computer to customers looking to upgrade, everyone loves the Mac, and they especially love MacBook Air. Today we’re giving it a huge update, with two times faster performance, the new Magic Keyboard, double the storage, a new lower price of $1,299 (CAD) and an even lower price of $1,169 (CAD) for education,” said Tom Boger, Apple’s senior director of Mac and iPad Product Marketing. “With its stunning, thin and light design, brilliant Retina display, all-day battery life and the power and ease-of-use of macOS, MacBook Air is the world’s best consumer notebook.”

The $999 (CAD) Mac mini configuration now comes standard with 256GB, while the $1,399 (CAD) configuration features 512GB of storage, and every Mac mini is made from 100 percent recycled aluminum.

I think the new pricing and improved keyboard on the MacBook Air will be huge determining features for people who have been waiting for a modern Mac. The Mac mini, one of the most versatile devices Apple makes, should slot in nicely as an entry-level Mac desktop for businesses and students.
