DJI is introducing a new rugged camera that redesigns the Osmo Action, which debuted over two years ago. The Action 2 drops the Osmo name and gets a 155-degree field of view lens and a 12-megapixel sensor. It can record 4K footage up to 120 frames per second and 240 frames per second slow-motion video at 1080p. It might not be as impressive as the top-of-the-line GoPro Hero 10 Black, but it offers something else that might appeal to a different set of users.

The DJI Action 2 comes in under two ounces and has a magnetic mounting system that expands its capabilities. If you want a front-facing display for vlogging purposes, you can attach the touchscreen module to serve as a secondary OLED display, introduces three extra mics, and up to 160 minutes of footage without stopping.

DJI is also offering a battery module that extends the 70-minute run of the Action 2 to three hours while adding an extra microSD slot. Other accessories include being able to mount on a floating handle, a 3-in-1 extension rod, and a lanyard, among others.

It has a dedicated sensor, so the camera promises accurate colour tones even in challenging lighting conditions and underwater. A SnapShot feature turns on the device and begins recording just by holding down the power button. It has other DJI camera features, like capturing time-lapses and serving as a webcam.

DJI is selling the Action 2 as a bundle that costs either US$399 (around CA$494 converted) or US$519 (CA$642). The former comes with the battery module, while the latter has the touchscreen accessory. Both come with different mounts, too.
