Google Photos will end its free unlimited backup option in June, which means the many photos you've backed up on the service will count towards your Google Account storage. Ahead of the change, the service gets a "review and delete" tool that can help you take out content like large photos and videos, blurry images, and screenshots. Selecting one of these three options will bring up the pictures and clips that count towards your storage, so you can free up some space by deleting unnecessary files.
To access the tool, head to your profile avatar in the app's top-right corner, select the Account storage progress bar, and then open the Back up & sync menu. There is a Manage storage button there that'll take you to a new page with the Review and delete option.
Google wants to remind users that the "High quality" photos won't be affected by this change. But to avoid confusion about what the term "High quality" entails, Photos is renaming this tier to "Storage saver." These compressed, normal quality photos do not count against your storage, as we mentioned above.
