It's taken 30+ years to get an adaptation of The Sandman off the ground. But now, we finally get a TV series coming to Netflix. Fans of the iconic Neil Gaiman's comic got a first look at the series and actor Tom Sturridge (Far From the Maddening Cry), who plays Dream of the Endless, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Killing Eve), who plays Death of the Endless, during the streaming service's Tudum event over the weekend.
Sturridge is joined by an impressive cast to bring this live-action adaptation to life, including Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) as the literal devil Lucifer Morningstar; Boyd Holbrook (Logan) as the nightmare the Corinthian; Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as Roderick Burgess, a human magician; and Sanjeev Bhaskar (Yesterday) and Asim Chaudhry (Black Mirror: Bandersnatch) as Cain and Abel, respectively. There's also Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) as Johanna Constantine, David Thewlis (Wonder Woman) as John Dee/Doctor Destiny, Stephen Fry (V for Vendetta) as Gilbert, and Patton Oswalt (Agents of SHIELD) as the voice of Matthew the Raven.
Gaiman and Netflix haven't revealed the release date for the series yet. But it will be the author's third piece of work being adapted into a television series. It joins American Gods on Starz and Good Omens (his collab with Terry Pratchett) on Amazon Prime.
