Minivans are not very popular among EV enthusiasts, but Volvo wants to change that with its new all-electric multi-purpose vehicle, the EM90. This versatile vehicle can work as a spacious family car, a mobile office, or a cozy camper. It has a modular interior design featuring noise cancellation, air purification, massage chairs, and bi-directional charging. It also has two 15.6-inch displays, one for the driver and one on the roof, that can turn the cabin into a cinema, lounge, workstation, or dining area.

The EM90 boasts a range of about 458 miles on a single charge, according to China’s CLTC testing. However, this estimate may not reflect the real-world performance of the vehicle. The EM90 can recharge from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes, but it is not very fast, as it takes 8.3 seconds to go from 0 to 62 mph.

The EM90 is currently available for pre-order in China, where it costs 818,000 yuan, or around CA$154,520. It is based on Zeekr’s 009, a luxury MPV from Geely, the parent company of both Volvo and Zeekr. The EM90 may appeal to the growing market of affluent Chinese customers who prefer spacious and comfortable vehicles. However, it is unclear if Volvo will bring the EM90 to other markets.
