Amazon has unveiled new details and images of its upcoming Fallout series on Prime Video. The show, based on the popular game franchise, will debut in April and feature Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) as Lucy, a sheltered girl who ventures into the post-apocalyptic wasteland for the first time.

The series is set in 2296, more than two centuries after a nuclear war devastated the planet. Lucy is the daughter of “Overseer Hank” (Kyle MacLachlan, Twin Peaks), the leader of Vault 33, a secure underground community.

According to Vanity Fair, Vault Boy, the game’s iconic mascot, will also appear in the show and have an origin story. Another familiar character from the games is The Ghoul, played by the Walton Goggins (JustifiedThe Hateful Eight). The Ghoul is a half-dead, half-immortal survivor who has a mysterious past and a witty personality. The show’s approach to the character is to use a combination of prosthetics and makeup to create his disfigured look while allowing Goggins to express his humanity.

The show is co-created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who also co-created Westworld. They said the show will capture the essence of the games, including their retrofuturistic style, sharp social commentary, and moral ambiguity. Fallout will premiere on April 12, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video.
