LG will most likely debut V30 on August 31st at IFA

All signs point to the V30 being the new handset LG is unveiling at this year’s IFA. The South Korean tech company just sent out save-the-date press invites for the event. While it doesn’t say which device they’re planning to unveil but the invite posted above shows the shape of a smartphone with a not-so-subtle silhouette of the V in the back. And as Android Authority points out, the resolution of the invite is at 2,880 x 1,440. The significance of that is it’s been rumoured that the V30 will also have a 2:1 aspect ratio like the G6.

Much has been said about the device already. It’s said the V30 will lose the secondary display and will have an OLED screen this time. Wireless charging is expected to be available on the device, too. Aside from that the V30 will reportedly run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and at least 4GB of RAM. All of these have been speculation, though, so we just have to wait until the end of August to find the truth.

LG rumoured to be launching V30 at IFA

One of the rumoured leaks of the V30 shows the secondary display sliding out of the bottom of the device

If the recent report coming out of South Korea is to be believed, LG plans to launch the latest V30 flagship at IFA in Berlin. But they’ll be announcing it supposedly a “day before the opening day of IFA 2017,” which puts that at August 31st. Bringing the phone to IFA will be a first for the brand’s V series. It’ll reportedly also be the first time LG is holding preorder sales for the V line for at least three mobile network providers in South Korea. Whether that’ll extend to other countries isn’t known. But if LG does launch the V30 at IFA, it’ll give them a slight advantage over the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and new iPhone release, which are rumoured to be launching sometime in September.

Early LG V30 renders show a secondary slide-out display

If you’re like us, you might have a special place in your heart for slider phones. LG seems to be tapping into that—or at least its early ideas for the V30 seem to think so. Evan Blass (@evleaks) tweeted several early mockups (here, here, and here) of the LG V30 showing a phone with a secondary display that slides out of the bottom of the device. And yes, we think it’s very reminiscent of the BlackBerry Priv.

Blass cautions that these are “old-ish” renders of the device so we can’t say if this is what LG plans for its V line. It does show us though what the company might be planning for its next V device. LG has been pretty experimental so far with its V line of devices and whether that pays off or not, we’re not sure. What do you think? Would you consider buying a phone like this?

Alleged LG V30 leak shows possible return of the dual front camera

If this supposed leak of the upcoming LG V30 is to be believed, LG might be considering bringing back the dual camera in front. GSMArena speculates that perhaps considering bringing the dual camera setup to both the front and back sides of the device. There also seems to be hints that the secondary display is going to stay this time around. Other previously rumoured specs of the LG V30 include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and improved DAC.
