First impressions: Huawei Mate 20 Pro

As the Motoring Editor, I appreciate technology in smartphones because vehicles have similar advances. What we see revealed in the smartphone industry is shared in the automotive industry. Case-in-point, AI technology is now used in smartphones and new vehicles.

The Huawei Mate20Pro is released in Canada this week (November 8) through major carriers and I had the opportunity to test out the device since its global reveal in London, UK last month. With a few weeks under my belt, I wanted to experience the value of Huawei’s newest smartphone in my everyday routine and share with you a practical review.

Review: Apple iPhone XR

Apple’s third iPhone release for 2018, the colourful and perky iPhone XR, may have been relegated to second-class citizen status behind the pricier iPhone XS and XS Max and the new iPad Pro, Mac mini and MacBook Air unveiled today.

On any other year, a device like the iPhone XR would shine and stand alone as a worthy and worthwhile iPhone release. There’s a lot to the iPhone XR that will endear it to many users whose iPhone 6, iPhone SE or iPhone 7 handsets may be on their last legs.

Yes, it is more affordable than the premium iPhone XS family and if you can get over some of the manufacturing compromises (i.e. aluminum over stainless steel, LCD technology over OLED, 3 GB of RAM instead of 4 GB, single 12-megapixel rear camera instead of two) then the iPhone XR still has plenty to offer.

Review: Apple iPhone XS Max

How can Apple improve on the imposing and super premium 5.8-inch iPhone X on an `S` year and at a time where flagship smartphone competition is at an all-time high? Adding a larger size, a new colour finish, improved processor and camera performance, as well as a slew of new exclusive features are all standard moves in the Apple playbook and they are all in effect here but there's also so much more.
