Samsung Galaxy IV launched, focuses on software and functionality

Samsung launched its anticipated flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S IV. Looking very much like the Samsung Galaxy S III, the new device features a larger 5-inch AMOLED screen, a thinner, lighter (130g) and (7.9mm) profile which Samsung says is more durable than the previous version. Mention of Google or even Android was missing from Samsung's song and dance packed launch in New York today but many of the Galaxy S IV key features are software based. Some outstanding features include a 13 Megapixel camera which can be used simultaneously with the 2 Megapixel front facing cameras.

The Samsung GALAXY S 4 will be available Q2 in Canada from Bell, Eastlink, Fido, Koodoo, Mobilicity, Rogers, Sasktel, TELUS, Videotron, Virgin Mobile and Wind Mobile and their authorized channels. Further details will be released closer to Canadian availability. Hit jump for the official press release.

More Samsung Galaxy S IV images and video appear as launch date nears

Samsung leaked the shadowy GS IV image (left) on Twiter while some purported shots of the front and back show a great similarity to the GS IIIBy Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Samsung's done a laudable job keeping the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV under wraps, but four days away from the Galaxy S IV's supposed launch and we have seen some new images of the flagship smartphone.

Samsung flashed a little hint on Twitter today as to what the Galaxy S IV will look like with what looks like familiar beveled rounded corners and a speaker grille that's not unlike the Galaxy S III. Online forum from China Sammy Hub showed off front and rear photos of what it could be the Galaxy S IV. The design is unremarkable, although familiar and in lockstep with the rest of the current batch of Samsung mobile devices.

Above is a video by istevecom on YouTube showing what they claim to be the first hands-on of a Samsung Galaxy SIV (i9502) from China Unicom. The battery, front, side and back of the device can be clearly seen. The demo also goes through various screens and features including the camera for stills and video. The 'Next Big Thing' is Looking very much like last year's "Big Thing," the Galaxy S III.

New screenshots of Samsung Galaxy S IV confirm Smart Scroll and Smart Pause features

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

A natural evolution of the Smart Stay eye-tracking feature from the Samsung Galaxy S III, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV will allow users to Smart Scroll and Smart Pause content on the phone with their eyes. A series of leaked screenshots courtesy of SamMobile shows the setting screens for these features. From what we can see, this looks like a well-realized set of functions that are beyond experimental. It will remain to be seen how well these features actually work.
