Samsung develops hotel management solution for the Gear S3 to help hotel staff communication

Samsung partners with hotel operations platform ALICE to develop a new hotel management solution centered on the Gear S3. This new solution aims to help hotel staff answer customer requests more efficiently and quickly. For example, when a guest has a request, employees from the relevant department will get silent vibration alerts on their smartwatches. The hotel employee can simply tap on the screen to acknowledge that they are taking care of the task, which also allows managers to track the request in real-time. It will benefit hotel workers (like those involved in room service, repairs, cleaning, etc.) that are always on the move and need both hands to complete their tasks.

The Viceroy Hotel Group was the one who brought the partnership about and they will first employ the solution at the Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills hotel before it comes to their other properties around the world.

Samsung offers new experiences on the Gear S3 courtesy of new app partnerships

Samsung’s Tizen-powered Gear S3 are getting a slew of new features thanks to new partnerships the company has entered into. The first one takes advantage of Samsung’s relationship with Under Armour. This will bring the Under Armour Connected Fitness suite (which includes UA Record, MapMyRun, MyFitnessPal, and Endomondo) to the smartwatch and giving you some useful fitness- and health-related apps to use. Those who buy a new Gear S3 get 12 months complimentary access to the premium services included in the suite. There will even been exclusive features, such as being able to participate in challenges, for Gear devices.

Samsung’s relationship with Spotify brings offline playback access to the Gear S3. Also, the BMW Connected app will work for all compatible BMW vehicles. And Nest owners can use the Gear for Nest app to control the temperature at home. The Gear S3’s own HERE WeGo app will also make it easier for you to see public transport options right from your wrist and you’ll even be able to send directions straight to your Galaxy smartphone.

Samsung has practically confirmed this news with its invite for its IFA 2016 press event happening on September 1st at Berlin, Germany. The Gear S3 will come almost a year to the day Samsung released its predecessor at IFA 2015 as well. Some of the new features rumoured to be integrated into the Gear S3 include an altimeter, barometer, speedometer, and GPS. It’s starting to look like the smartwatch geared towards the more active crowd. We’ll get more confirmation pretty soon.
