Apple has sent out invites to a "media event" set for October 20th. The most interesting thing about the invitation is the slogan "Back to Mac," as well as a sneak-peek at what looks to be a Lion, signifying the possible introduction of OS X 10.7 probably codenamed Lion. We're hoping that some new Macs will be announced at this event, hopefully a cheaper, smaller MacBook Air which hasn't seen an update for over a year.

Above is a leaked image of the supposed revision to the 13-inch MacBook Air which will be using a new type of SSD memory that's more like RAM than a notebook hard drive. More importantly, there are speculations of a new, 11-inch subnotebook sized MacBook Air that will be significantly cheaper than the 13-inch variant. What's more, the above prototype (which is dated back to April) shows 4 battery packs although it is quite possible that this, as well as the Core 2 Duo Intel processor will be replaced upon launch. We hope its true, we think a modestly priced subnotebook Mac in the 10-12' inch screen category will be a runaway success.
