One of the new features YouTube is testing out for the web is a new multitasking feature for its web version. Called “miniplayer-bar” in YouTube’s code, the feature is like picture-in-picture in that it’s a floating video panel but this one follows you in a, well, smaller panel on top of the screen as you scroll down to check out the “Up Next” sidebar or read through the comments. Aside from being able to see the video in a smaller screen, the feature also shows things like the video’s title, the thumbs up/down buttons, and the share and subscribe buttons. The application is also similar to how picture-in-picture works on portrait mode when you’re on mobile. There is no word yet when YouTube will release this to more users, but we’ll keep a lookout for this.
