Huawei's latest foldable takes on the stylish, portable clamshell design. The company officially unveiled its P50 Pocket smartphone. It gets Huawei Mate X series' patented hinge mechanism, which means there should be no visible gap between the top and bottom half of the phone when it's folded.

Inside is a 6.9-inch 120Hz OLED display with a tall 21:9 aspect ratio and 2,790 x 1,188 resolution. There is a punch-hole cutout for the 10-megapixel selfie camera at the top centre.

As seen in the teaser released via a fashion editorial a few days before this official launch, the P50 Pocket carries the design language of the P50 series with the two circular cutouts.

The one on top is for the triple camera array, which includes a 40-megapixel main, 13-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 32-megapixel "ultra spectrum" built for improving colour rendering. The bottom one is a 1-inch cover screen where you can view time, date, and notifications. On top of that, you can access service widgets for apps like maps, music players, and QR codes. It can even help you with directions.

The Huawei P50 Pocket runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G processor with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Without access to Google Play Services, this foldable runs on Huawei's HarmonyOS with Huawei Mobile Services onboard. It also gets a 4,000mAh battery with 40W wired charging support.

Huawei is offering this device first to the Chinese market, but it has plans to carry it internationally. The standard model comes in white or black colours with an 8GB + 256GB model for CNY 8,988 (around CAD 1,810 converted), while the special edition gold has a 12GB + 512GB variant for CNY 10,988 (CAD 2,213).
