Razer has announced a major upgrade to the displays of its Blade 16 and Blade 18 gaming laptops, which will be fully unveiled at CES 2024 next week.

The Blade 16 will feature the world’s first 16-inch 240Hz OLED panel, co-developed with Samsung. Meanwhile, the Blade 18 will sport a 165Hz 4K LED panel with G-Sync. Both panels will be Calman Verified and individually factory calibrated, and they will cover 100 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut.

The OLED panel of the Blade 16 will offer excellent true blacks and super-fast response time. It is a 2,560 x 1,500 display with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, and a VESA ClearMR 11000 rating for motion blur. ClearMR measures the ratio of clear pixels to blurry pixels during motion, and VESA claims it is easier to understand than other metrics of response time or motion blur.

The Blade 18’s panel upgrade is a simple trade-off between refresh rate and resolution. The current Blade 18 has a 2560 x 1600, 240Hz panel with G-Sync; the new panel will have a 4K resolution but a lower refresh rate of 165Hz. The new panel will also have a 3ms response time and G-Sync support, which should ensure smooth gameplay at 4K resolution.

Razer plans to release more details about the Blade 16 and 18 at CES 2024.
