Meta hired John Koryl, former chief executive officer of luxury goods marketplace The RealReal, as its new vice president of retail. This move underscores Meta's plan to enhance the retail experience for its growing line of artificial intelligence-enabled hardware, including Quest headsets, Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, and other upcoming wearables.

Koryl will report directly to Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth, who emphasized the need for a specialized retail approach for these products, noting that standard offerings are insufficient. He brings experience in e-commerce, marketing, and retail, having held executive positions at companies like Neiman Marcus Group, Williams-Sonoma, and eBay.

Meta aims to develop in-house expertise and share learnings with retail partners, who Bosworth said will remain key sales drivers.
