If you are one of those users who have been waiting years for Instagram to optimize its app for the iPad, then your wait is over. The Meta-owned social media app said it has "taken the time to design an experience that optimizes your [favourite] parts of Instagram for a bigger screen."

As GSMArena pointed out, it doesn't seem like the feed is one of those favourite parts, as the content on your feed still shows up in the middle of the tablet with tons of space on either side.

The update also reveals their priorities, as it directs you straight into Reels when you open the app. Now, this takes advantage of the larger display. You can expand the comments in Reels while the videos retain their full size.

Stories are still visible at the top, and messaging is easily accessible as well. What's new is a Following tab that shows you three options: All, Friends, and Latest. All displays recommended posts and reels from accounts you follow. Friends show recommended content from accounts you follow that also follow you back. Latest shows chronological posts from accounts you follow, with the most recent posts appearing at the top.

Instagram for iPad is coming to iPadOS 15.1 and later. There are also plans to bring the new look to Android tablets.
