Qualcomm has officially confirmed that its next flagship Snapdragon chipset, widely expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, will be unveiled earlier than its predecessor. The announcement came today during the company's Computex presentation in Taiwan, revealing that the annual Snapdragon Summit will occur from September 23 to September 25.
This confirms recent rumours suggesting an earlier launch for Qualcomm's top-tier mobile silicon. The Snapdragon Summit is the traditional platform for the unveiling of the company's latest and greatest Snapdragon processors.
Industry analysts anticipate that the first smartphones powered by the new chipset, likely Chinese flagship devices, will be announced shortly after the Summit, potentially in late September or early October for the domestic market. The accelerated timeline could also lead to earlier global launches for these devices compared to previous years.
As GSMArena pointed out, the early arrival of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 may present a challenge for Samsung. The South Korean tech giant is rumoured to launch its next generation of foldable smartphones in early July. This would mean their flagship devices would be powered by a chipset that is superseded by Qualcomm's latest offering just three months later, potentially putting them in a less competitive position in the latter half of the year.
