Apple is reportedly considering outside help to run its artificial intelligence-powered version of Siri. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that the tech giant approached OpenAI and Anthropic to develop versions of their large language models for testing on its private cloud infrastructure, aiming to create an "LLM Siri."
The report claims that AI and Siri head Mike Rockwell asked his team to test whether Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's ChatGPT, or Google's Gemini can handle basic requests compared to its models. Anthropic's version is reportedly the most promising.
However, the publication noted that the plan to use a third-party AI model is still in its "early stage" and is still considering using in-house models.
