Apple announced a new iMac powered by the M6 chip, promising significant speed enhancements and expanded on-device AI capabilities to its signature 24-inch all-in-one desktop. Featuring up to a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerators built into each core, the M6 delivers up to 1.5 times faster app performance and twice the graphics speed of the M4 model. Paired with a Dual 16-core Neural Engine and memory bandwidth up to 170 GB/s, the new desktop delivers up to five times faster AI compute than its predecessor and up to 18 times faster overall performance than Intel-based iMacs. The updated lineup also adds Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, optional 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, and SSD read/write speeds up to twice as fast.

Deeply integrated with macOS 27, the M6 iMac serves as a primary platform for Apple Intelligence and an upgraded Siri AI, enabling context-aware search, automated workflows, and local AI model execution through tools like LM Studio while prioritizing user privacy. The system retains its signature ultra-thin design across seven colours—blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange, and silver—and features a 4.5K Retina display, a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera with Desk View, a six-speaker sound system, up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, and colour-matched USB-C peripherals. Pre-orders open today, October 28, with full retail availability beginning Friday, November 6. Starting prices begin at CA$2,099 in Canada.
