Apple announced its next-generation Mac mini lineup, featuring the all-new M6 and high-performance M5 Pro silicon. Despite maintaining its ultracompact footprint, the updated mini desktop is engineered to supercharge "always-on" agentic AI computing and intensive pro workflows. Equipped with up to 4x faster AI performance, 2x faster graphics, and 40% faster CPU speeds on the base M6, the line gains GPU Neural Accelerators and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Power users can opt for the M5 Pro model, which scales up to an 18-core CPU, 20-core GPU, and 64GB of unified memory with 307GB/s bandwidth to effortlessly run large language models, rendering tasks, and complex 3D simulations.
Alongside the massive silicon leap, the new lineup enhances desktop connectivity and ecosystem synergy. Both models feature upgraded 2.5Gb Ethernet (with a 10Gb option), Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and front-facing USB-C ports. The M6 configuration houses three Thunderbolt 4 ports, while the M5 Pro upgrades to Thunderbolt 5—allowing users to cluster multiple Mac mini units together for local AI model processing. The updated hardware ships alongside macOS 27, which introduces a significantly overhauled Siri AI system assistant, expanded Apple Intelligence tools, and system visual updates under the refined Liquid Glass design architecture.
Pre-orders for the new Mac mini are live, with full in-store and online availability set for September 22. In Canada, pricing for the M6 configuration starts at $1,249 ($1,109 for education), while the M5 Pro variant starts at $2,399 ($2,259 for education).
