Xiaomi gave attendees at IFA 2026 a first look at its latest foldable smartphone, signalling another vote of confidence for wider, shorter form factors. Displayed strictly behind glass, the device sports compact "passport" proportions that appear noticeably squishier and wider than competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8.

Wrapped in an eye-catching shade of supercar red, the phone features a prominent rear camera module and sports the Leica branding, hinting at strong photography capabilities, despite Xiaomi keeping exact display dimensions and camera specs under wraps for now.

Underneath the exterior, Xiaomi revealed that the foldable will run on its new proprietary XRING 03 "flagship AI SoC." By integrating CPU, GPU, NPU, and AI processing onto its own homemade silicon, the company appears to be bypassing standard Qualcomm or MediaTek chipsets for this release.

Full hardware specifications, pricing, and availability details remain unannounced, but tech enthusiasts won't have to wait long: Xiaomi is set to launch the device officially in China on September 7.
