Review: Dyson Pure Cool HEPA Air Purifier and Fan

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

With the current heat wave hitting Ontario and parts of Quebec, we find ourselves in a position where even our air condition units can't really cool as well as they used to.

One solution worth considering during heat waves are electric fans which can do more than move hot air around. In my case, my apartment's central AC can't cool the whole unit properly, so we've used various fans to mitigate the unbearable heat.

Dyson's Pure Cool HEPA Air Purifier and Fan, with its tall profile, intuitive remote control and smartphone app integration is what I consider to be the biggest and best option to combat heat while also purifying the air for my family. It's so impressive that I plan on getting a second one to use in the cottage.

Capable of quietly projecting 290 liters of airflow, the Dyson Pure Cool can blast a wide area of cool air or concentrate a powerful yet steady beam in a concentrated area.

I find it is powerful enough to cover the master bedroom, as well as a living room. Being able to Oscillate up to 350' ensures that it can cool down an area efficiently.

We have two furry cats that are feeling the heat, they choose to stay in front of the Dyson Pure Cool fan instead of the other conventional fans we've set up around the house.

For sleeping at night, the night time mode cuts down on loudness while still providing constant airflow to make these hot nights bearable.

I've also used the Dyson Pure Cool when cooking indoors to help dissipate smoke that often sends our ill-placed smoke alarm and carbon monoxide sensor into a tizzy.

More than being an excellent and multi-purpose fan, the Dyson Pure Cool is also a remarkable HEPA filter that offers 360' of filtration while capturing 99.97% of microscopic allergens and pollutants as small as 0.3 microns.

You can see this filtration happen real time with Dyson's app. This is a serious air filter, with 9 meters of HEPA borosilicate microfibers, pleated over 200 times, to capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns.

Carbon granules capture dangerous pollutants like formaldehyde, benzene and nitrogen dioxide. The filter is easy to remove and replace with minimum fuzz.

The Dyson Pure Cool is a smart fan as well, it is capable of forward or backward projection and uses built-in sensors to monitor air quality in the room.

The Dyson Pure Cool's tall profile and wide cooling angle makes it one of the best options for battling the exhausting heat this summer. It is a stellar air purifier that goes beyond basic filtration and offer a more comprehensive cleaning.
