Carrie Fisher has completed her work for 'Star Wars: Episode VIII'

The sad news of Carrie Fisher passing away leaves behind questions of what her involvement in the upcoming installments of the new Star Wars trilogy would be. According to io9, there are multiple sources that have confirmed that Fisher has already completed her work for Episode VIII. It’s been said she was also supposed to appear in Episode IX but we won’t be able to verify that until Episode VIII comes out. According to Episode VIII’s director Rian Johnson, we’re supposed to see how Leia’s journey, now a general for the Resistance, continues but now we’ll also be faced with the truth that the story will need to change past the eighth film.

Microsoft discounts Surface computers by $300 for Boxing Week

There's never been a better time to consider getting a Surface Pro 4 since Microsoft is extending a discount that takes $300 off all models. Sure, you still have to pay for the Surface Pen as well as the Keyboard but we've not seen discounts this deep in Canada. You can not get a Core i3 Surface Pro 4 with 128 GB of storage for $999, which is reasonable for the 2-in-1. iF the Surface Book is more to your taste, those are being discounted by $300 across the board as well. The offer is good until December 31.

Sony Music’s Twitter account gets hacked, falsely reports death of Britney Spears

Looks like hacker group #OurMine is at it again and this time it targets Sony Music Global’s Twitter account. An early morning tweet showed up on its account saying Britney Spears died “by accident” and followed by the #RIPBritney. A retraction was later tweeted saying a “new IP” address was spreading the false rumour. The hashtag #OurMine was in the retraction tweet suggesting the group is the one responsible for the erroneous tweet. Both of the tweets you see above have been taken down but not before people have managed to take screenshots of it.

#OurMine previously hacked Twitter accounts of Netflix, NFL, and even Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. We won’t be surprised if the group targets another high profile account in the future.

Warm up your drone with a sweater

What started out as a joke turned into something that could be useful—at least for drone operators from colder climates. San Francisco-based artist Danielle Baskin has made sweater for drones and it might be what you’re looking for if you think your drone could be getting chilly.

Baskin told The Verge, “It started as a joke / art piece, but actually drone-owners in cold climates have told me that their drones have problems with their battery life during the winter. I was thinking that I should add pockets to the sweaters that can hold portable heaters to make the sweater electric so it keeps the drone at a warmer temperature, and actually this would be useful, if not just for novelty.” Aside from that, you can think of it as adding a sense of whimsy and approachability to the drone. Or you could just be dropping US$189 for a very funny accessory.
