Google Pixel and Pixel XL get new Android beta builds

If you're part of Android's beta program and have a Google Pixel or Pixel XL, well an update should be making its way to you. The beta version of Android Nougat 7.1.2 brings some minor bug fixes to the phones. This build is expected to get released publicly in the coming months. Other eligible Google-branded phones to get the update include the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel C, and Nexus Player. No sign of the 2014 Nexus 6 phone and Nexus 9 tablet, though.

Regular Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge users start receiving Android Nougat update

Looks like Samsung is sticking to the January 17 rollout of the Android 7.0 update for its users—at least for those in China and the UK. Owners of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in said countries have started to see 1.2GB updates heading to their handsets. And this rollout isn’t limited to beta testers. January 17 was the estimated date for the European release of the update so we’re expecting Android Nougat to make its way to Galaxy S7 devices from other regions soon.

There is a report from China, though, claiming a beta version of the app is still being released in the country (despite beta being closed) and it seems to be causing some issues. Whether this is affecting the rollout in the UK or the global release of the update isn’t clear at the moment.

HTC One A9 finally gets Android Nougat update

HTC promised it’ll release Android Nougat update for the One A9 15 days after it released on the Nexus. That promise wasn’t kept but we guess better late than never? It’s been over 140 days since the Android 7.0 came to the Nexus 5X and 6P but finally Nougat update is rolling out to the unlocked version of this mid-range device.

As a reminder, some of the features coming to Nougat include multi-window, better notifications, and revised quick settings, among many others. If you’re an A9 user, keep checking your phone to see if the update already made its way to you. Make sure you have enough battery when updating or keep your device charged while you do so.
