Dyson Zone to launch in select markets in March 2023

Source: Dyson

Canada isn't on the initial list for the Dyson Zone's release, but we do want to share some of the features the company hasn't shared earlier. The Dyson Zone goes for a hefty US$949 (approx. CA$1,289), and it comes to countries like the US, the UK, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Two colourways are coming to the US: Ultra Blue/Prussian Blue and Prussian Blue/Bright Copper. The latter will only be available directly through the company, and it comes with extra accessories, including a second electrostatic carbon filter, a soft pouch, and an inflight adaptor kit.

Both models will come with the Zone's visor, along with a dedicated sleeve and cleaning brush. Dyson says the electrostatic filters are rated to last up to 12 months before needing replacement.

Dyson Link is now the MyDyson app

Dyson has rebranded its Dyson Link app. It is now called the MyDyson app and gets extra features and content for the company's cordless vacuums and hair care products. It's the app you'll use to manage your different Dyson products. There will be how-to videos, user guides, and more for some Dyson products. You can also get 24/7 support, including chat right from the app.

Some Dyson products have more features in the app than others. The hair care products lean more on tutorials, ways to connect with Dyson's community, and a quick way to shop for accessories. Meanwhile, smart home accessories like purifiers, robot vacuums, and lights give you mobile control of these devices. Voice control is compatible with Amazon Alexa in Australia, France, Germany, India, Japan, the UK, and the US.

The Dyson Zone is a pair of headphones with an air purification system

Dyson is entering a new segment in the way they know best. The Dyson Zone is a pair of noise-cancelling headphones with built-in air purification, which courses through a magnetic face visor that kind of makes you look like a Mortal Kombat character. The headphones part is the newer segment that Dyson is entering, but let's dive into the air purifier aspect first. Dyson wants to make it easier to breathe in cleaner air, especially if you live in urban areas.

As The Verge pointed out, the Zone's air purification tech is basically a miniaturized version of the company's existing air filtration tech. It pulls in air through each earpiece using tiny compressors, which it then filters and pipes through that visor-like thing across the face. The visor isn't flush against your face. Instead, it sits a bit in front of it, so there's a gap where a bubble of clean air gathers, which is what you breathe in. When you need a face mask, an attachment works for this use case.
