Get a great bod even without the gym with Gym Tuck

If you don’t have a budget for gym but want to get fit, there is an app ready to help you out. Celebrity trainer and fitness entrepreneur Joshua Lipsey has a new fitness app called Gym Tuck. The app has over 500+ tucks (fitness exercises) to choose from. There will be beginner and advanced descriptions as well as demonstration video from Joshua Lipsey in the app. You can also track your stats on the Gym Tuck graph and see which ones you can do better and which ones you enjoy doing.

But what sets this app apart is a method Lipsey calls BOYTAM or “Bet on yourself to achieve more.” This lets you bet on how many or how long you can hold a particular tuck for. This sort of starts an internal competition to help you overcome and even surpass your threshold. The app is available for free download on the iTunes App Store.

Pact pays you stick to health and fitness goals

Having a hard time meeting your diet and exercise goals? Pact (formerly GymPact) is an app the employs a payment/penalty system to your exercise and dietary goals. You have three “pacts” to choose from: gym, food, and veggie. The gym pact gives you credit for stuff like your trips to the gym, reaching daily step count, etc. Food pact requires you to log your daily intake with MyFitnessPal, which syncs data with Pact. And veggie pact requires you to set a goal of eating a certain amount of fruits and veggies per week. You will have to take a photo of your veggies to verify the serving.

The app won’t need you to pay anything upfront but you have to pledge a certain amount of food or exercise goal and corresponding amount. If you don’t meet your goals you get charged a minimum of US$5. Penalties can be adjusted at $5 increments. You can download the app on Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

First look at LG's Lifeband Touch fitness tracker

Fitness trackers are certainly a mixed bag. For some, they're the perfect companion to stay on point with fitness goals, and for others, they're overpriced baubles that require too much maintenance via apps or web applications. LG's Lifeband Touch fitness tracker made quite a splash at CES 2014. This device is said to feature a 2-5 day battery life, is compatible with Android and iOS, comes in different sizes and has a bright OLED display. LG features its own apps but the Lifeband can be used with MyFitness Pal, Runkeeper, and MapMyFitness services. Perhaps LG can bring something new to this wearable fitness tracker space after all.
