Google Translate on iOS gets Split View support

Having a conversation online with someone who doesn't speak your native language? Google Translate is making easier for you to converse with him/her with its latest update. The app now supports Split View feature on the newer iPads to make translation on the fly a lot more easier. You can use for things like having Google Translate alongside an iMessage window or while browsing through something on Safari.

Google's also updated its instant visual translation feature to add Arabic into the mix. This joins the languages (English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish)  you can use to instantly translate images or texts you see in the real world, in real time (even without Wi-Fi and cell data).

Google is hoping to make it easier for you to translate words you don’t understand. The latest update for Google Translate lets you translate any word you want, within any app. The catch is you have to be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The update also introduces “smoother conversation” in 40 languages, new 20 languages for instant translation using your camera from printed text, and better accessibility support and stability.

According to SlashGear, the languages included in this update's TO/FROM English text section are Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Filipino, Finnish, Hungarian, Indonesian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Swedish, Turkish, and Ukrainian. Android Wear update brings Google Translate to smartwatches

The upcoming Android Wear update will make it easier for you to talk to someone who can’t speak your native language. The update will have Google Translate preinstalled on all Android Wear devices, even if you don’t have the app on your phone. How does it work for Google’s wearable? You just need to speak into the watch one of the 44 supported and indicate into what language you want it translated. The app will then translate it for you and then you show it to the other party. He/she can then speak in their native language and have the app translate for you. As you go on you don’t have to switch the language setting back and forth as the app can detect what languages are being spoken. This new update should be arriving in the coming weeks when Android Wear 1.3 launches.

Google Translate can slow down pronunciation for better understanding

Having trouble picking up how Google Translate is saying the word/phrase/sentence you want translated? There’s a trick hidden there that can help you. When you use Google Translate on the Web, you just need to click on the listen button twice. The second time you tap it, the voice will pronounce the words slower.
