Leak of cancelled Lumia 1020 successor shows up on Chinese site

Microsoft was rumoured to have been working on a successor of the Lumia 1020. Dubbed McLaren, it was supposed to have a giant camera and 3D touch gestures. The project was reportedly scrapped but a listing for a prototype appeared on Chinese auction site Taobao shows that the device (or at least something similar to it) was almost completed.

Its internal name is RM-1052 and as you can see from the photo it has a 1020-like camera hump, similar style, and made mostly out of aluminum. There is a plastic part at the bottom most likely intended to improve wireless reception. Software shot shows it even has a better 1080p display. Too bad we probably won’t see this device out of the Microsoft stable any time soon.

iPad Air Plus and iPad mini 4 rumoured for 2015 release

If reports are to be believed, there will be a new bigger iPad and iPad mini replacement coming out next year. Mac Fan claims the iPad Air Plus is reportedly a 12.2-inch tablet running on an Apple A9 processor. It will feature four built-in speakers on each edge of the case so you get stereo sound no matter how you rotate the device. It will be shipping either in April or June of next year.

Meanwhile, the iPad mini 4 will reportedly be the iPad mini and iPad mini 2 replacement and will come with an Apple A8X processor. We have yet to verify how accurate these rumours are so as usual take these with a grain of salt.

Storage Sense tipped to make its way to Windows 9

Leaks of an early build for Windows 9 or Threshold have shown up and it looks like they’re bringing a new useful feature to the next iteration of the operating system. Storage Sense or the storage management feature of Windows Phone 8.1 might make an appearance in Windows 9 if you base it of the leaked screenshots of the OS. Storage Sense is meant to make it easier for you to look up what files or apps are taking up the most space in your Windows Phone device. We’re not sure if this will make it to the final cut of the OS but it sure would be handy if it did.

Specs of the Moto X+1 resurface online

Brazilian retailer Livraria Logos has put up product pages for the Moto X+1 and while there aren’t any images, they do have some features we could expect from the leaked Motorola device. The product pages say it will have a 5.2-inch display, unnamed 2.2GHz quad-core processor, 16GB of storage, 2GB of memory, and a 13-megapixel camera. It will run on Android 4.4.4 and will come in black, bamboo, and leather backing. It carries the model name XT1097, which according to benchmarks that surfaced earlier this month it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Wooden backplates are definitely exciting but leather is even more luxurious and really pushes the envelope for smartphone design.
