Huawei sets date for P20 launch

Huawei has already officially confirmed that the successor of the P10 and P10 Plus will be aptly named the P20 and P20 Plus. But we wouldn’t be seeing it at this week’s MWC in Barcelona. Instead, we might see it launch in Paris on “27-03-2018” as the new teaser video Huawei released for the P20 and P20 Plus has been uploaded. The seven-second clip also showed hints at the possibility that the phone will have three cameras as is being rumoured. Android Authority got some hands-on time with a prototype of the device but it didn’t have three camera lenses just yet.

The phones are rumoured to be using the Kirin 970 processor so both phones will carry artificial intelligence features (which was also hinted at in the short teaser) and run on Android Oreo. RAM is expected to be between 6GB or 8GB of RAM. Storage might support microSD expansion. And battery could be as large as 4,000mAh. But we’ll only really know the final specs when the phones come out on March 27th.

A new Nissan Leaf is headed our way on September 6th

Japanese automaker Nissan is now ready to unveil the second-generation of its all-electric hatchback, the Nissan Leaf. The new Leaf will be making its debut on September 6th and Nissan teased this announcement on Twitter with an image that shows Nissan’s badge and what looks like a portion of the car’s grille. The new Leaf is expected to take style inspiration from Nissan’s IDS Concept, a five-door showcar from 2015 with autonomous drive tech and next-gen electric propulsion. Nissan has said as much that its ProPilot driver-assist technology will be coming to the leaf. This semi-autonomous system will manage things like acceleration, braking, and steering within a single lane on a freeway to help lower driver stress and increase safety.

There is hope that this model—which is expected to be a 2018 model—would improve on its 107-mile range offering, especially with more all-electric vehicles offering better mileage on it. We’re going to have to wait a few months then to get full details.

Android co-creator Andy Rubin teases bezel-less smartphone

The co-creator of Android, Andy Rubin, left Google back in 2014 and has put up his own company called Essential in January of this year. Now, he's teasing what looks like the company's first smartphone. And it is quite eye-catching to say the least. It's looking to be a completely bezel-less device from the top. Whether that extends to the bottom is something we don't know at the moment.

This smartphone is supposed to be part of a first wave of devices Essential plans to launch. Rumour has it Rubin plans to launch a smartphone mid-2017 that will have a larger display than the Apple iPhone 7 Plus but will have a smaller form factor because of the lack of bezels. It'll also supposedly have metal edges and a ceramic back. Essential is supposedly in talks with Foxconn to build the smartphone. Perhaps this is it and if it is, then we might be seeing it pretty soon.
