Analyst predicts iPhone 16 models will have 8GB RAM, Wi-Fi 6E, and a faster 5G modem

Apple will upgrade the RAM on its iPhone 16 models to 8GB, at least according to analyst Jeff Pu. If true, this change is a significant improvement over the 6GB RAM on the iPhone 15 models. Pu’s research note also reveals that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will supposedly support Wi-Fi 6E, a feature that was exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro models.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro models will reportedly also have a new Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 5G modem, which is faster and more power-efficient than the X70 modem used in the iPhone 15 series. However, the X75 modem will be reserved for the Pro models, while the regular iPhone 16 models will stick with the X70 modem.

Samsung’s Music Frame: A speaker that doubles as art

Photo: Samsung

Samsung has taken the TV from a bulky appliance to a sleek piece of home decor, and now it's doing the same for speakers. The Music Frame is the latest addition to Samsung's 2024 TV and audio lineup, and it's part of the Frame series that blends technology with art. At first glance, it looks like a simple picture frame, but it conceals six powerful speakers and Samsung's audio processing tech.

The Samsung Music Frame can display your favourite artwork or photos on its centre screen, a diasec matte acrylic plate called the "Art Panel." It can also produce immersive surround sound with Samsung's Q-Symphony technology, which lets it sync with TVs and soundbars from the 2024 catalogue. You can also use it as a standalone speaker via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

Samsung designed the Music Frame to be mounted on the wall and function as "a TV speaker, rear speaker, or a subwoofer" depending on the setup. It also has Samsung's SpaceFit technology that adjusts the volume based on the room's acoustics.

The Music Frame, which measures 13 x 13 inches, was showcased at CES 2024, but Samsung has not announced its release date or price yet.

LG Signature OLED T: LG's first wireless TV to go on sale

Photo: LG

LG Electronics is finally going to sell its first wireless transparent OLED TV. The LG Signature OLED T is a 77-inch screen that can blend into the environment when turned off or work as some 3D-like display with art being shown on the screen. You can place it anywhere, thanks to its wireless features that eliminate the need for cables and wires.

LG is not the only company that is experimenting with see-through screens. Its rival Samsung also showcased its micro LED technology that enables transparent screens at this year’s CES, too. However, Samsung’s screens are still in the prototype stage and haven't been commercialized yet.
