Nothing shines brighter with the Phone 2’s enhanced Glyph interface

Photo: Nothing

Nothing is revamping its unique Glyph interface for the upcoming Phone 2 smartphone. The phone is set to debut on July 11. YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) has shared an early hands-on video with the new smartphone that showcases the light interface embedded in the back of the phone, and the enhancements Nothing has made to it since last year’s Phone 1.

The Glyph interface has a similar pattern. But it now features more zones of LED lighting, which should enable it to offer more refined control of the phone’s lighting effects. The Phone 2 has almost triple the number of zones, with 33 zones compared to 12 on the Phone 1.

Apple may launch USB-C AirPods Pro case with iPhone 15 this fall

Photo: MacRumors

Apple might release a USB-C case for the AirPods Pro. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has new details on what to expect from Apple's AirPods Pro this year and beyond. In his latest Power On newsletter, he claims that Apple will release a USB-C case for AirPods Pro along with the iPhone 15 lineup, which is also rumoured to ditch the Lightning port for USB-C.

This would align with a report from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in March, who said that a second-generation AirPods Pro with a USB-C charging case would arrive later this year. However, Kuo was unsure if there would be any other hardware changes for AirPods Pro in 2023, and Gurman seems to agree.

Report: Apple doesn't plan to support VR game controllers on the Vision Pro

Photo: Apple

Apple’s Vision Pro, the company’s first VR headset, was announced at WWDC without much emphasis on gaming. Unlike other VR headsets, Vision Pro does not support any VR game controllers—either from Apple or third parties. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is betting on hand and eye tracking as the primary input methods for Vision Pro. He says Apple tried a finger-worn device and third-party VR controllers but opted for a simpler solution.

Gurman also claims that Apple is not planning to add VR game controller support anytime soon despite feedback from developers and gamers. Apple did show some gaming capabilities for Vision Pro at WWDC, such as playing games from Apple Arcade like NBA 2K in a 2D visionOS window with a PlayStation DualSense controller.
