Amazon Echo Show 5 Kids gets a space makeover and more fun features

Amazon also introduced a new version of the Echo Show 5 Kids as part of its latest Alexa hardware lineup. The new model has the same faster performance and better sound quality as the standard Echo Show 5, but it has a space-themed design and a bunch of kid-friendly features.

The Echo Show 5 Kids also lets parents set limits and filters for their children’s use of Alexa. It also has a creative, generative AI feature called Create with Alexa. Kids can enjoy fun responses, jokes, homework help, and music without explicit lyrics. The device includes one year of Amazon Kids+, the company’s subscription service that offers “ad-free and age-appropriate” audiobooks, games, videos, and Alexa skills. The Amazon Echo Show Kids costs USD 100 (around CAD 135).

Amazon’s new Echo Show 5: Faster, louder, same look

Amazon unveiled a new version of the Echo Show as part of its latest Alexa hardware lineup announcement. The Echo Show 5 boasts faster performance and better sound quality, but it looks almost identical to the old one. The Echo Show 5 features a 5.5-inch screen that lets you watch videos, make video calls, or check your doorbell camera. 

Amazon claims the new third-generation Echo Show 5 is 20 percent faster than the previous model. It also has an enhanced speaker system that delivers twice the bass and a redesigned microphone array that captures voices more easily. The Echo Show 5 retails for USD 90 (around CAD 121) in charcoal, white, and blue options.

Report: Apple reportedly registered 'xrOS' wordmark

Adding more fuel to Apple's rumoured Reality Pro headset fire, the company has supposedly filed for a trademark for "xrOS." It's a stylized wordmark referring to the "extended reality OS that the augmented reality and virtual reality headset would supposedly run on. If this rumour is accurate, then it's almost certain we'll hear more about it during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference that's kicking off on June 5.

Phone Link app brings iOS support to all Windows 11 users

Microsoft has announced that its iPhone support for the Phone Link app is now available for all Windows 11 users. iPhone support was first introduced in February with select Windows Insider preview testers. It gradually rolled out to the general public. Android phones have had access to Phone Link since 2015.
