Beware of the Microsoft Store smartphone and tablet trade in promo

Sometimes it's just too good to be true. We ran a story recently about Microsoft's latest trade in promo which says they'll give up to $250 store credit for working smartphones and tablets.

The offer states user who bring in a 'working smartphone or tablet may receive upt to $250 of store credit, possibly towards a Surface 2.'

Of course, the fine print is that to be eligible for trade in, product must power on and be in fully functional, working condition without broken/missing components, cracked display/housing or liquid damage, cannot be password protected, and include original chargers/accessories.

What they don't tell you is that you can't just bring any working tablet or smartphone. There's an actual list of products that they will take and if your device isn't on that list then your'e not getting a rebate.

CIBC and TELUS launch mobile payment App

TELUS and CIBC today announced the launch of the CIBC Mobile Payment App to TELUS customers, allowing more Canadians to have access to mobile payments.

Beginning today, TELUS and CIBC customers will be able to conveniently pay for coffee, groceries and more with the CIBC Mobile Payment App on many Android smartphones with Blackberry devices to follow later this month.

Satya Nadella confirmed as Microsoft's CEO

Microsoft has announced that its Board of Directors selected Satya Nadella as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. He will assume the role of CEO and join the Board of Directors, effective immediately. Satya is a 22-year Microsoft veteran and most recently oversaw Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group, one of the company’s fastest growing and most profitable businesses.

Microsoft looks to buy your tablet or smartphone for up to $250

Looking to buy a new Microsoft device or a Surface 2, specifically? The Redmond, Washington-based technology company is offering to buy your tablet or smartphone for up to $250. But that amount will only be usable at the Microsoft Store. The offer is valid until March 2, 2014 or “while supplies last.” You can also only avail the promo at select Microsoft retail stores in Canada and the US (including Puerto Rico).
