IFA 2022 will return as an in-person event this September 2 through 6 in Berlin. IFA was cancelled in 2021 due to COVID-19 uncertainty. But now, the show will be back, and we can expect updates in consumer electronics, home appliances, information technology, and telecommunications industries. The Berlin exhibition grounds are open for its first tradeshow with limited COVID-19 restrictions. As of April 1, 2022, visitors attending major events in Berlin won't need to present proof of testing or vaccination. This year, CES 2022 already went ahead with an in-person event, even though many brands dropped out amidst the omicron variant outbreak. If there aren't any major outbreaks in the coming months, we can assume the show will continue.

McDonald's Canada adds first-ever electric vehicle to distribution fleet

Source: McDonald's

McDonald's Canada is testing out using zero-tailpipe emission tractors for its distribution needs in the Montréal area. With its supply chain distribution partner, Martin Brower, McDonald's uses the new Volvo VNR Electric Class 8 tractor. These will pull McDonald's-branded trailers to deliver to local branches within a 150km range. The company will use the trial to evaluate the tractor's performance in different weather conditions.

Aside from the Montréal trial, there are plans to conduct the same test in Brampton later this year. It's part of the company's larger plan to transition to lower-emission vehicles (where feasible) for its supply chain fleet that serves over 1,400 restaurants in the country. Globally, McDonald's has committed to achieving net-zero emissions across its operations by 2050.

Microsoft brings tabs to Windows 11's File Explorer

Microsoft is ready to introduce some new features to Windows 11 that can help with hybrid work. One of the most significant changes is the redesign of File Explorer. The app now gets tabs and offers you a way to "see all files in one centralized place." It will get features like file pinning and tabs, so your frequently visited folders are easily accessible. The video demo above shows that you can right-click on a file and select "Add to Favorites" to pin it. To keep multiple taps open, you just need to click on a plus sign on the top left to start a new tab, similar to how browser tabs work.

Twitter is finally testing out an Edit button

After years of many users asking for it, Twitter is teasing that it's working on an Edit button. The company says it's been working on the feature since "last year" and previewed what it will look like. The option is kept within the three-dot menu in a tweet. It's unclear how the feature will work. All we know is that it'll give you the option to edit a tweet after it has been posted.

Twitter plans to roll it out first through Twitter Blue Labs, which offers beta features to Twitter Blue subscribers. The company plans to "learn what works, what doesn't, and what's possible" before bringing the option to everyone.
