There will be an 'Exploding Kittens' mobile game, animated show on Netflix

Source: Netflix/Matthew Inman/Elan Lee

Netflix is trying a new development strategy with a party game it's turning into an animated TV series and mobile game. The streaming service is getting an Exploding Kittens show released alongside an "exclusive" version of the Exploding Kittens mobile game. The adult-oriented show will have the card game creators Elan Lee and Matthew "The Oatmeal" Inman as executive producers, along with Mike Judge. Lucy Liu and Tom Ellis will star in the show. The series focuses on a holy war where God and the Devil visit Earth in the form of beefy house casts.

The series won't premiere on Netflix until 2023, but you can expect an upgraded version of the game in May with two new cards. Future gameplay will tie in elements of the show.

If you're like me and are a fan of the Love Death + Robots anthology, you'll be happy to learn that Netflix's "problem child" animated show (watch the trailer above) is coming back next month. The third season of the animation anthology will debut on May 20. Still, it isn't known how many episodes we'll get this time.

The Tim Miller and David Fincher-produced series has featured varied animation styles that move from hyper-realistic to 2D cel animation to everything in between. And we're expecting to see more in this new season.

Panic Playdate gaming device have started shipping

The handheld gaming device Panic Playdate has finally begun shipping. At least for what the company calls its "Group One" customers. They sent out a tweet saying the shipping had started that day this Monday. So, if you were one of the first to preorder the device in 2021, you should get an email from the company about your unit. Panic promises to "ramp up" its shipping volume to ensure the Group One buyers get it during the next month.

The company also plans to share info on Group Two orders soon. If you're thinking of ordering a Playdate now, unfortunately, the wait will be quite long. Panic is already taking orders for 2023. It says on its website, "The queue for 2023 is quickly growing, so preorder now, and secure your place in line!"
