YouTube makes it easy to continue a mobile video on your desktop

Hello I'm Nik/Unsplash

YouTube adds a new feature that makes it easy to switch from watching on your smartphone to your PC. If you're watching on the YouTube app on Android or iOS and exit before it finishes, a mini-player with the same clip will open in the bottom corner when you launch YouTube on the web. Instead of showing the channel name at the bottom, "Continue watching" is displayed beneath the title. The feature is rolling out to users. If it hasn't made its way to you, you might just have to wait a bit.

Samsung finally started taking out its ads from its first-party mobile apps

Cherlynn Low / Engadget

As the company promised earlier this year, Samsung has begun taking out its ads from its first-party apps. And if the update made its way to you already, you won't see Samsung advertising things on Weather, Theme, and Health. Samsung Pay still gets a dedicated space for special offers, but it makes sense that the company retains that given what the app offers.

Now, if you still see ads on your Samsung device, you'll need to push through the update by using the force stop functionality in Android and then manually restart them.

Apple tipped to launch new MacBook Pros soon

After its fall launch, Apple looks like it's ready to hold a Mac-focused event next. In his latest newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said that the new MacBook Pros with the rumoured faster "M1X" Apple silicon chip would power these new laptops. You can expect an updated design and better display tech, too.

Apple typically holds its Mac events in October, but last year, Apple held it in November. Gurman said the company is gearing up to introduce this product within the next month. He wrote, "Apple typically does its major new Mac introductions in October. So stay tuned."
